Description

Glutamine

Glutamine is an amino acid whose main function is to provide nutrition to gastrointestinal cells and immune cells and maintain the integrity of gastrointestinal mucosa. Glutamine is important for the production of secretory immunoglobulin A (sIgA), which acts as the body’s first line of defence.

Slippery elm

Traditionally used as a demulcent to help soothe an irritated or unsettled stomach. Slippery elm works by forming a protective and healing barrier over gastrointestinal membranes which may help to reduce inflammation and repair damaged tissues.

Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM)

May assist in rebuilding and maintaining the lining of the gastrointestinal tract and in reducing oxidative stress and inflammation that can weaken immunity. MSM has been shown to inhibit the release of inflammatory molecules involved in allergy.

Glycine

Supports healthy digestion. Insufficient glycine levels can lead to impaired digestive function, such as reduced bile acid production, which can lead to fat malabsorption and deficiencies in the fat-soluble vitamins.

Saccharomyces boulardii

Shown to be beneficial in the treatment of antibiotic-induced diarrhoea and inflammatory bowel disease in dogs. Helps to restore friendly intestinal flora and maintain gastrointestinal mucosal membrane health.

Pectin

A soluble fibre with prebiotic properties that acts as a food source to support the growth of beneficial bacteria. Pectin increases both the viscosity and volume of stool, making it beneficial in the treatment of both constipation and diarrhoea.

Vitamin C

Known anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Necessary for the growth, development and repair of all body tissues, including the proper functioning of the immune system and wound healing.

Marshmallow Root

Marshmallow root has high mucilage content and demulcent properties and has traditionally been used to help to soothe gut irritation and inflammation.

Deglycyrrhizinated licorice root (DGL)

DGL has been shown to increase the production of protective mucus in the stomach and esophagus. The flavonoids in DGL are responsible for the soothing support in rebuilding and protecting the mucosal lining of the stomach and gut.

Chamomile

Traditionally used for the relief of symptoms related to disturbance of the stomach.

Quercetin

Quercetin is a natural anti-inflammatory compound that has been shown to enhance gut barrier function by stabilising mast cells and preventing the release of histamine and other inflammatory chemicals from the cells.

Turmeric

Turmeric has anti-inflammatory properties that help to relieve gastrointestinal symptoms across a range of different digestive conditions.

Zinc

Zinc is known to enhance the tight junctions of the intestinal lining, helping to limit gut permeability and reduce the risk of allergies. Diminished levels of zinc often result in opportunistic infections.

Methylcobalamin (vitamin B12)

The most bioavailable, neurologically active and best-utilised form of vitamin B12. Crucial for healthy nervous system and brain function, as well as for the formation and growth of blood cells. It's also involved in intestinal health. Chronic digestive disorders increase the risk of vitamin B12 deficiency.
